Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you based/where is the product made?
We are based in Redcliffe, in Queensland, Australia and manufacture all of our furniture in house - from the table legs, to the tabletop, painting and microcement.
Are you custom?
Yes, while we have our standard range of products, all of these can be customised to adjust the size, colour or finish. Alternatively, if you wanted to collaborate on a new product, we can create something completely custom & bespoke to you.
What experience do you have?
Scott has 12 years experience as a qualified shopfitter & cabinetmaker. He has been crafting furniture for years as a hobby and established Le Serve in 2022 after making furniture pieces for friends and family for some time.
What are your products made from?
Our microcement products are made from a marine-grade exterior timber base.
Our timber pieces are made from Australian native timber such as Tasmanian Oak, Tasmanian Blackwood and other local species. As well as European Oak sourced from France, or American Oak.
What is Stonewash?
Stonewash is a painting technique that we apply over the microcement to create a stone-look finish. This is crafted using multiple colour combinations to achieve our Bone, Light or Beige colours.
What is Microcement?
Microcement is a composite cement product which includes lime dust, marble dust, polymers and more. It is applied trowelled over the timber tabletop in layers and sealed with resin to make for a durable finish that is much lighter than traditional concrete. We also have more flexibility with having a smoother or more textured finish.
Our microcement can withstand heat up to 60 degrees celcius, we encourage clients to use heatproof mats or placemats when placing hot dishes on the table to avoid burns or heat marks.
What is Tasmanian Oak?
A locally-sourced timber, Tasmanian Oak is our preferred timber species for furniture making. It is durable yet easy to work with and has a fairly consistent grain pattern. It is considered one of the more cost-efficient Australian timbers.
Tasmanian Oak has some variation in colour and grain pattern which it to be expected and celebrated. Like all natural products there may be some small imperfections which are considered normal.
Can you stain this timber?
While we do not stain timber to colour match, we can stain the timber to specific colours within our range to achieve your desired look.
Alternatively we can use a clear matt or Snow finish for a whitewash look.
What do you seal your microcement products with?
Every piece is coated in a clear matt weatherproof sealant. All of our products are non-porous and can withstand staining and general wear and tear.
Can your furniture be used outdoors?
We can create indoor and outdoor furniture. Our outdoor furniture is treated to ensure it can withstand harsh weather conditions. Durability is our main priority.
Do you offer a warranty?
We offer a 1 year structural warranty on all of our pieces.
Can you ship Australia wide?
We can ship most furniture items on the East Coast of Australia. We currently ship to all areas in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia. For all local deliveries, we deliver & install to South East Queensland.
Where do you offer delivery to?
We offer metro delivery between the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane & Gold Coast regions. For regional areas in South East Queensland or Northern NSW, please enquire and we would be happy to assist.
Do you offer installation?
As part of our delivery service in South East Queensland, we install the product on site. For dining tables, the tabletop, joining piece and legs are all separate and we join these on site. This is to ensure the furniture piece is securely screwed into place and level to your floor.
For all joinery such as entertainment units, breakfast booths and built-in bench seating, we install these on site securely to the walls/floor.
